Friday Faces 9.30.2011

Hooray for Friday!

My name is A-Dub and I make my Daddy's facial expressions everyday-see the look in picture #2.  that is most definitely a Joel face.  However, my smile is my very own & I know it brightens my parent's day.  I am lucky to have such awesome parents that change my non-stop poopie diapers & have patience with me especially from the hours 2:30-5:00 AM.

I am learning to talk & sing.  This morning, when my Daddy asked me, "What's your name, cutie?", I answered him.  Momma and Daddy were both surprised at what I said, so they asked again, but I was over answering their questions and wanted to have some Daddy and me time so momma could sleep.

For some reason, I'm beginning to like tummy-time a whole lot more and I can stand it for up to 20 minutes before I roll over or cry ask for momma to pick me up.

I hope you enjoy some of my Friday faces!

*true story. It sounded like he said "Aiden" when Joel asked him what his name was!

Happy weekend everyone,
Baby A

Aiden: 12 weeks

Please excuse the bad photography...(I had the camera set to some funky ISO & it completely washed out these photos). ::sad face:: they had great potential though.  I took a few on my camera phone and those came out alright.

 Baby at 12 weeks
  • AJ has been mister cranky pants. I swear it's teeth, but most are skeptical.
  • He still rocks the blue-eyed look most days (some days I see green).
  • Breastfeeding champ. wants to eat constantly after 5 PM (this might be an issue considering I return to work on Monday-enter super sad face here).
  • Naps in bassinet or playpen for up to 45 minutes! Hey, it's a start.
  • Sucks on his hands- he can practically fit his fist into his mouth!
  • Sucks on his toes- with a little help...
  • Talks in full sentences, "iiii ooooooo aaa!" & "ahhh uuuu oooh" lol. One time I heard him say, "Mommy is the best."
Mommy at 12 weeks
  • Still recovering from my breast issues, but doing SO much better.  I go back in a few weeks for another giant-needle  aspiration.
  • Go back to work on Monday. nervous/excited/sad.
  • Finding outfits that are more breastfeeding appropriate.  Finding out that I can't use dresses I already own for wedding because my chest is HUGE.
  • Finding that I have more energy-maybe I'm adapting to the young baby schedule, maybe I'm actually getting more rest.
Okay, enjoy my badly edited photos:

see his teeth? JK, the one tooth I think I see is on the bottom gum.

baby blue-eyes

melts my heart.

had a melt down 2 minutes after this photo.

i made him too!

Any of this sounds familiar, "He has your eyes" or "He totally looks like mommy" Or "She is definitely a Smith"...?

Well, in my case it's, "He looks just like Joel," "Did you even help make this baby?" Or "Those genes sure are strong"...So I decided to show you that he looks like me.

Please see picture below:

 "the resemblance is uncanny"
& can you believe we found the SAME dress for Little AJ to wear? we had to make a new bow because the original got lost...

ok, OK, you caught me.this is just a picture of me twice--one is a wee-lil-tiny-bit photoshopped.

But, let's get serious-I made him too!!!

I believe I carried Little Mister for 9 months.  I believe I also pushed this 9 pound, 5 ounce baby that is supposedly the size of large watermelon out of my lady parts. So, please give me a little credit. Even if it is just a small thing.

Do it.

(Please).

Crae-Baby                                                                                             Baby-Crae...?

So what do you think he has of mine? Personally, I see a similar headshape and lips. What did your child inherit from you?....or your husband?

From this day forward,
Aiden's twinsie

Steppin' Out on 09.25.11

First steppin' out since baby!  please excuse the camera phone...
dress: hand-me-down from K.P.

Tank: threadcase, Necklace: gift from T.J.

shoes: Steve Madden
to church in McFarland.

So it wasn't so much a steppin' out kind of day, but it was our first 'ROAD TRIP' with the little one.  we left at night time-he slept the whole way there!  We arrived in McFarland late and spent some time with Grandma & Grandpa Wenger.  The church family got to meet baby Joel's baby! we had some great family time looking at old pictures, eating cookies & of course, getting starbucks!

Little mister forgot what a nap was while we were gone, so he was a grumpy-mcgrumperston at night, but we survived & we remembered to pack almost everything (just left behind my make-up & body pillow...wah wah!) it was a great weekend & a perfect first getaway with baby.

check out all the other pretty ladies:

hates to be 'alone'- if he can't see me (someone), he cries. (this includes in the car).
loves to be held & cuddled.
hates poopy diapers/changes.
loves shower/bath time with daddy.
likes/dislikes drying off/lotioning up/PJ time with mama.

26.

this is your life.

you are 26.  you are officially a wife & mother. your littler mister is 3 months old. you have a hard time thinking/talking about anything that isn't baby related (but you TRY).  you buy clothes that are 'breastfeeding friendly'. you now have a new outlook on bodily leakage (gross, but true). your best friend is no longer that little black & white furball.
you find yourself staring at this little man & you feel heart-tingles.

you are sleep deprived. sometimes you feel fun-deprived, but most of the time you feel lucky. you crave shower time.  you crave venti iced-coffees, but you order tall decaf, iced coffees.  you try to remember to write down that story/poem idea you had in the shower.  you try to write that story/poem when you get a free minute- you won't find these minutes often, but you TRY.
you feel almost 'normal'.
you go out for your birthday. you have a wonderful, like old times night out.  you want to stay out longer.  you go home at 10:30.  you feel exhausted.  the next day makes you feel old.
"you aren't old, you are 26," you say to yourself the next morning. "you still have four years til thirty."
you have nightmares about turning 30, not because you will be thirty, but because your son will be four.

he already has chest hair! stop growing up, stop it right now!

From this day forward,
i am one year closer to 30.

We love our gdiapers

5 days until my 26th birthday!!!
changing station
laundry day
A friend of mine just announced that she is pregnant! (Hoorayyyy for another little one) & she asked me about Gdiapers-the pros & cons, why i love them, what i don't like about them- & it made me want to share it with all of you potential or already mommies out there in the blog world.

PROS
  • they are adorable-as you know from my blog, my son rocks the just in his G's look constantly (it is summer...but have no fear, for winter he will rock his G's with leggings)
  • no diaper rash ever!
  • easy- seriously when you pre-load the diapers they are just like sposies. My husband even says they are super easy to use
  • good for the environment- cloth cuts out waste & the biodegradable/flushable inserts break down in days (compared to the 500 years it will take for a disposable). My husband and i have recently begun to flush the inserts and it is SO easy.
  • comfortable- the outsides are so soft and cozy. I have never tried other cloth options, but i hear these are way less bulky than the other ones.
  • great Resale & trade forums. other Gparents sell & trade their diapers for a fraction of the regular cost.
  • They can be used for additional children (So hoping for a girl next time bc the girl patterns and colors are super sweet).
  • velcro is in the back (which is supposed to help when the little mister goes through the "must-be-naked" stage).
 CONS
  • Start up price- they are a bit expensive to start out, BUT if you choose to use cloth (some or most of the time) it saves you a ton of money compared to buying disposables all the time.   Diapers.com has a good deal for the biodegradable inserts- you can sign up for a loyalty program and enter the code takefiver & for life you get a discount when you order the case ($47 for 160 inserts)
  • For the most part you have to order them on-line. some Babies 'R' us stores carry them, Mother's market, and Wholefoods are beginning to carry the inserts.
  • A few of the diapers have faded, not badly but noticeably.
  • the velcro is in the back (i know i listed this as a pro)-it is a little bit awkward with a squirmy child to get the velcro secured, but i imagine the same goes with disposables...i wouldn't know though bc we have been using Gdiapers since day 1.
What I love about them
  • I feel good about using them.  I try to live a 'green' life in other areas of my life, so why not in this way too.  I mean, 500 years!!  We were fortunate enough to have received our start up kit/baby bundle as a baby shower gift & other diapers from my mother & boss, and some biodegradable inserts from friends because it started our little collection!
  • The color & style options.  I know this is silly, but it makes changing poop-filled diapers kind of fun! there are so many fun colors and adorable patterns to choose from! & they come up with new designs with each season.
if you use gdiapers or cloth diapers, what are some tips and helpful hints for other parents interested in cloth or hybrid diapering???

From this day forward,
Mac-G-mama

*  I wrote this review bc i love using Gdiapers and wanted to share with other mama's interested in G's/cloth diapering. Gdiapers did not pay me to write this review and all opinions expressed here are my own.
